TABLE OF COEXISTENCE
"...Coexistence is not necessarily...but perhaps learning to live side-by-side."*
"The Table of Coexistence" is a metaphysical construct of The Earth and Humanity. The top is a glass disk held up by the feet and hands of The Four Colors of Man. Each stands in its quadrant of origin supporting the glass top, The Sky. Each is connected from the navel and heart to a hemisphere representing The Earth. Once I was asked why the underpinnings had no color. I answered,
"The Earth has no color. Color has its origins in an accident of birthplace, not from the earth of that place."
Religion, culture, and color are the results of millennia in a place where personal frontiers are defined and refined by interaction of like-minded peoples. Wars, diasporas, and socio-economic migrations have broken the traditional exterior boundaries of place into a mosaic of "ghettos." The results are possible conflict along many mini boundaries.
Only when man knows The Earth does not recognize his borders will conflict cease. The cries of the dying are equally dispersed by the wind. Battlefield blood is neither sweet nor bitter as it is absorbed by the dirt. The only parade of survival is "...learning to live side-by-side."
