Cookie Ashton | #B1 | Painter

My main objective in creating art is to try and move the senses by giving a intensification of reality. I am particularly interested in engaging the viewer as a participant interpreting with my paintings. I generally strive through the use of color, texture, and imagery to acheive this goial. The materials, subject matter, or techniques are of secondary importance to me.
My observations of nature, nesting, and nurturing infinitely interest me and are recurrent themes in my artworks. The transitions, transformations, and expectations inherent in these areas provide challenges without end.
My current works are mostly in oil or acrylics on canvas and vary from representational to abstract in nature. Mixed medias on paper and print work such as collagraphs, monoprints, etchings, etc. are also a large part of my repertoire.
