Eric Slough | #8B | Painter

In my youth, I was often frustrated at my attempts to articulate my thoughts and express my feelings. However, even in my early years, I had discovered the magic of art. I would paint and draw the images that would have otherwise stayed locked inside.
Once, after an argument with my mother, I charged into my room and painted what turned out to be a lion roaring. She cried when she saw it. It turned out to be her favorite of my works.
Thirty five years later, I still use art to help express some of my feelings and thoughts. Whether it lifts you to heaven or brings you down, I put it on canvas, paper or whatever. Reality evokes an endless array of possibilities. To paint truths not yet recorded, and my philosophy, I believe is my purpose. To bring a few smiles on faces with my more whimsical art is an added pleasure.
Since 1976, I have lived in Houston, Texas where I have continued my art education at Glassel, The Art League and Houston Community College. I spend many hours reading, hoping to become enriched by others' journeys, as I hope to enrich others through my art.
