Patrick Palmer | 28b | painting/drawing

Patrick Palmer was born and raised in Southern California. He attended Chapman College and participated in the Semester at Sea Program where students sail around the world studying different cultures. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master of Fine Arts from Arizona State University specializing in lithography.

After graduating, Patrick lived in San Francisco, California where he taught at both the University of California, Berkeley Extension School, and at San Francisco City College. Most of Patrick’s early artwork focused on creating figurative images. But soon after moving to the Bay Area, his work evolved into the experimentation in and creation of architectural imagery.

In 1987, Patrick moved to Houston, Texas where he currently resides. It is in Houston that Patrick began once again focusing on the human figure in his artwork. He teaches at the Glassell School of Art associated with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. He is the Department Head of Drawing where he teaches painting, drawing with a focus on realism, and a very popular class on the human head.

Along with Patrick’s extensive teaching experience, he has formulated an impressive career as an Artist. His works can be found in public collections, such as the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, in corporate collections across the United States, and in many private collections. He has over eighty shows and numerous grants and awards to his credit. Patrick’s work can be viewed at one his private studios located in the Museum District or at Winter Street Studios, # 28B. Patrick’s Winter Street Studio is open to the public every second Saturday of the month from 2 – 5 pm.
