Karen Vermillion | Studio 28b | Painter

Themes frequently woven into my paintings are rebirth, transformation, the unfolding and healing of the human spirit, and the connecting pathways between earthly and celestial realities, between the visible and invisible. They are symbolic and archetypal portrayals of both a personal and universal nature and evolve intuitively, weaving back and forth between conscious and subconscious thought processes. It is a continual personal discovery. In fact, I may still be learning about a piece years after its completion. My on-going studies and interest in dream symbolism and Egyptian and Native American spirituality continue to influence my work, as well as a spirited imagination, a love of color, a passion for mystery and an active relationship with my dream world.
Karen was born in Houston, Texas. She received her education from the Glassell School of Art, and continues independent studies. Private collections of her work are throughout the United States.
